Miami Horror 4 X 2

The APSU Downtown Gallery proudly presents work by artists Philip Saxby and Dallas Holmes as part of Clarksville’s First Thursday Art Walk on January 3, 2013. An opening reception will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Philip is a 2006 graduate of Austin Peay State University. Over the past two years he has displayed his work in various venues including Fusion 2010, The Pancake and Booze Art Show, 2010, Austin Peay Alumni Show, The O Gallery at The Arcade, The Portland Brew Solo Exhibition, and The Stacks on Decks Solo Floor Exhibition which included media coverage in The Nashville Scene.

Philip was recently selected as an international feature artist Open Call winner for the London Olympics 2012 Art Show by Ashby Arts. Of Philip’s submission, they said “Saxby uses vibrant colors that contrast dark and allegorical themes within individual paintings, producing images and new ideas that make a lasting impression. His artworks are strongly influenced by his Mexican American heritage and the dynamic culture that has shaped him into the artist he is today.”

The exhibit of paintings and sculptures will remain on display at the Downtown Gallery throughout the month of January during normal business hours (Friday 4-7pm, Saturday 10-4pm). The APSU Downtown Gallery is located at 116 Strawberry Alley, Clarksville TN.  Please contact the gallery director, Jennifer Snyder (snyderj@apsu.edu) for further information.
