The collaborative, cultural organization, Jumping Dog Design is putting on a Do-It-Yourself (DIY) Design Theory art project, where all-comers, designers and non-designers alike, are invited to create an artwork and express their opinion on design. Proceeding from the premise that “Everything is Design & Everyone is a Designer,” this DIY drawing event is being held in the Student Design Group exhibition space on the 3rd floor of the Morgan University Center, Austin Peay State University.
“We create the future we can imagine. This DIY art project is a way in which we can encourage students to become participants, imagining design that connects with community. It’s a fun and playful project that encourages thinking about problem solving through a creative response,” said APSU Professor and Jumping Dog founder Mark DeYoung.
Existing as a kind of analog, social media experiment, responses may range from amusing and fun, to profound and provocative. During the event, creations and creators will be documented and the analog will go digital through Facebook. If you are interested in joining the fun, please stop by and participate from 8:00AM-5:00PM, Monday through Friday, November 5 – December 7 on the 3rd floor of the Morgan University Center, Austin Peay State University.
About Jumping Dog Design
This event is the final in a series of DIY Design Theory events during 2012. These inaugural events mark the formation of the cultural organization, Jumping Dog Design. Other Design Theory events were held at Helsinki Design Week, Helsinki Finland, the IDC (International Design Council) World Design Capital 2012; the Graphic Design Festival Breda, Breda The Netherlands, and at the AIGA (American Institute for the Graphic Arts) Think Tank Conference, Nashville, Tennessee. Jumping Dog Design was founded by APSU faculty member Mark John DeYoung and is an international, collaborative group with members in the Netherlands and the United States of America. The goal of the group is to bring to design a wide range of voices, stimulate dialog on design, and to put into practice concepts of promise.
