Grow Where You’re Planted
New Works by Paul Collins

October 4th-27th, 2012 – opening reception Oct 4th 5-8pm

The Austin Peay Downtown Gallery is proud to present a show of recent works by Paul Collins. This exhibition will comprise drawings and paintings inspired by the incredible rate of vegetative growth in the landscape of Middle Tennessee. These works utilize a vibrant colors and gesture to mimic the robust and unstoppable march of vines and undergrowth across the treescapes of our surrounding land.

Says Collins, “I have been inspired by these crazy vines since the minute I set foot in Tennessee. I began my career making landscape paintings 25 years ago and it has been a thrill to get back to it working through these exciting forms.”

Collins serves as Austin Peay State University’s Gallery Director and Assistant Professor of Art. He began teaching in Clarksville last Fall. This will be Paul Collins’s first solo show in Clarksville. The artist will be on hand for the opening reception on October 4th.
